EVOLVE® Cummerbunds | HPC EVOLVE® Plate Carrier | HEXATAC
These next-generation cummerbunds were designed to combine vertical rigidity with horizontal stretch, so you can carry heavy loads as comfortably as possible while accommodating chest expansion and clothing layers that can change in the field.

The EVOLVE® Cummerbunds are available in 4 sizes :
Here are the minimum and maximum circumferences when used with the HPC-E® plate carrier
Small : 85 to 100 cm (33.5 to 39.5 in)
Medium : 95 to 110 cm (37.5 to 43.5 in)
Large : 105 to 120 cm (41.5 to 47 in)
X-Large : 115 to 130 cm (45.5 to 51 in)
You can fine-tune the exact size of your cummerbunds with the supplied elastic cord.
This elastic cord also lets you adjust the firmness of the hold of your cummerbunds by changing the lacing for a softer or firmer hold.
Modularity
Our EVOLVE® Cummerbunds are made of two layers of composite that separate so you can carry gear “sandwiched” between them, for better comfort and a slicker setup.
You’ll find MOLLE on the outside but also on the inside, which allows mounting gear on both sides of the cummerbunds, and even simultaneously in the same location.
Loop Velcro on the inner face lets you attach armor plate pockets and use various Velcro inserts.
Assembly
EVOLVE® Cummerbunds are installed from the inside of the back plate bag through the vertical slots. They must be oriented with the velour on the body side and angled downward.
The elastic cord can be routed through the opening in the rear plate pocket flap for direct access to the cummerbund length adjustment.
Closure
At the back, they lock in place naturally thanks to the stops, so the Evolve® Cummerbunds never come loose and hit the stop when the maximum size is reached.
The front closure uses tubes (included), and vertical rigidity comes from the internal composite lining that slides into the inner slots of the front plate pocket.
Cummerbund compatibility. The HPC-E® plate carrier performs at its best with the cummerbunds developed specifically for it. However, it remains compatible with any cummerbunds with front and rear Velcro attachment that are 75 mm (3 in) tall (3 rows of MOLLE).

I bought the cummerbunds in size L, since it was the largest size available when I ordered (the XL wasn’t in the catalog yet). They add good rigidity to the chassis and you barely feel the PC. The Velcro interior and the “double blade” also let you accessorize the plate carrier your own way. The only downsides: first, the size runs a bit short. I have a 108 cm chest and, if I’m wearing a jacket, I have to yank like crazy to clip the cummer. Also, the attachment system, while well thought out, is still fragile. I’ve been using it for a few months and ran into a problem in an emergency: the buckle, which is held by several pieces of laminate, came off the cummer or the plate carrier. So I lost a good minute putting it back before I was operational. Other than that, no problems, and I remain partially satisfied.
