AYCE® Modular Placard | HEXATAC

The AYCE® Modular Placard is the ultimate successor to modular chassis. We designed this placard to put an end to the insert arms race. Modularity is still king, but it’s often hard to find the right insert for the gear you want to carry, and the total bill quickly gets very steep.

The AYCE® Modular Placard is a plate carrier chassis that comes with a modular composite insert. The modular insert attaches securely with the LVMS® system, which also does away with Velcro®, which is noisy, bulky, and wears out quickly.

The front and sides are covered with a MOLLE grid with reinforced rows to securely anchor your pouches and EUDs.

Pass-through cutouts and openings let you route and stow cables easily. Underneath, cutouts let water drain out and allow you to anchor shock cord to carry a tourniquet, explosive charges, etc.

The AYCE® Placard attaches to the plate carrier with rigid anchors that slide into the last row of MOLLE loops and the Velcro® front, so it needs no vertical buckles and frees up space on the plate carrier. Accessories (not included) make it compatible with plate carriers that use vertical buckles and G-hooks.

The modular composite insert consists of a main frame and dividers (two types: end dividers and center dividers), which are then wrapped with One-Wrap straps for fine-tuning the retention. The list of tested gear and the spacing we recommend are available below.

What’s Included

  • AYCE® Placard Host
  • (2) pairs of HPC-E® anchor tabs
  • Modular insert with 7 dividers and 6 hook-and-loop straps

Compatibility

The AYCE® Modular Placard was designed to offer the widest possible compatibility. Here is the gear we have tested ourselves and the settings we recommend for each:

Magazine/Gear Divider Spacing OneWrap Strap Spacing
AR15 STANAG 6 5
PMAG AR15 6 5
H&K G36 with fins and lugs 3 7
H&K G36 PMAG 3 7
AK steel 7.62 3 6/7
AK polymer 7.62 3 6/7
AK polymer 5.45, 5.56 3 6/7
H&K HK417 7 8
FN SCAR-H
H&K UMP9 3 4
Glock 33-round 3 3
H&K MP5 3 3
TASER7 3 6
CM6/MP7 grenade 3 5

As a general rule, if your magazine/gear catches on the Velcro, increase the spacing of your hook-and-loop strap. And if your gear moves around at the bottom, reduce the space between the dividers.

The inserts allow great modularity. On the same chassis, I was able to set up a Taser slot, two 9mm slots, and a light slot.
Without instructions it’s a bit complicated, but Hexatac’s assembly section is a real plus.

The real strength of this product is the modularity. The inserts are different from what you usually find, but once set up, it doesn’t move at all and provides very good gear retention (and I don’t say that lightly).
Also, the chassis stitching is well done, it feels fairly stiff at first, and the MOLLE loops are really high quality and even let you mount pouches on the side of the chassis.
One small weak point: if you need to change the position of the inserts, you’ll have to partially take the chassis apart to readjust it. However, that only happens very rarely; it’s a matter of planning ahead where your gear goes.
Another strong point is the price: given this level of design and the current market, going with the Ayce chassis is economical.
